George Haros
Partner, Workplace Advisory and Disputes - Gadens

 

George practices in employment, industrial relations, commercial and property law, particularly with respect to disputes arising in those areas. He is highly acclaimed in advising and acting in both complex and high profile litigation and is often called upon where the protection of reputation is a key focus.
He offers industry-specific knowledge in a number of areas, including professional services, construction, health, technology, sport, transport, manufacturing, security and hospitality. George has had carriage of some of the largest sports law disputes of the previous decade acting for sporting organisations as well as high-profile athletes.
George’s management background combined with his practical experience as a lawyer enables him to offer valuable and strategic insights to his clients. His experience in business as both an owner and someone who has built a business which has then been acquired, provides George with a deep understanding of the issues associated with operating a business and can provide considered, commercial solutions to clients. Whether they are multinationals, start-ups, established SMEs, senior executives or high-profile sportspersons, George provides his clients with tailored advice to assist them in meeting their objectives.
He has experience in providing advice and assistance on a range of both front and back end employment issues including investigations into conduct related issues, performance management, assistance with managing employee absences for prolonged periods and assistance with workers' compensation claims. He also has experience in preparing entire suites of employment documentation, as well as providing induction training sessions to employees and contractors for the purposes of rolling out new policies and procedures.

Deivina Peethamparam
Partner, Workplace Advisory and Disputes

 

As an Accredited Workplace Relations Specialist, and experienced senior legal practitioner, Deivina uses a combination of commercial acumen, technical knowledge and a client centric approach to drive positive outcomes.
Deivina most recently held the position of Group General Counsel at a privately owned Australian building services specialist. In this role she practiced across all areas of law, including construction, commercial law, intellectual property, dispute resolution, as well as in her primary area of workplace relations. Prior to that she held Principal roles in private practice law firms, leading workplace relations teams.
Deivina's experience includes advising on Enterprise Agreement and Award compliance and conducting workplace investigations into employee misconduct including fraud. She has also assisted in the strategic management of workers' compensation claims to deliver significant premium reductions to clients.
She has worked on designing and delivering training on contract law and contract administration and implementing a new risk management framework, in consultation with an external consultant, as well as the design and implementation of a performance appraisal system.
Deivina also works on complementing relevant policies and procedures processes to deal with emerging legal requirements (for example data breach reporting, modern slavery legislation and whistleblower's protection).
