ABOUT EMERGE 2023

APSCo Australia's full-day, face-to-face conference, Emerge 2023 is just months away. Now in its third year, this prestigious day has quickly become a must attend event for recruitment industry leaders and managers.

Held at Sydney's Museum of Contemporary Art, Emerge 2023 will bring together legal and cyber-security experts, heads of industry, progressive thinkers, business leaders and technology masterminds who will take attendees on a deep dive into the future of work, all while contemplating the complexities of an uncertain economy, renewed cyber-security threats and changing workplace legislation.

Featuring keynote presentations, discussion panels, and Q&A sessions - attendees will walk away from Emerge 2023 with a roadmap to negotiate the evolving staffing and recruitment landscape.

In a year when the state of the economy has dominated, Emerge 2023 will commence with the much-anticipated return of Westpac Business Bank's Chief Economist Besa Deda, who will provide an important backdrop for the day.

Joining Besa on our speaker's list is Sovereign Private's Paul Masters, Mike Beeley of Lightbox Communications, Squire Patton Boggs' Nicola Martin and Ashley Rose, and Gadens' George Haros and Dudley Kneller. More speakers, and the full agenda are set to be announced soon.

Attendees will also get the chance to witness an artist at work in the Museum of Contemporary Art, with highlights of Emerge 2023 visually documented on a canvas mural by local-Sydney artist, Don Paull, of Fangaroo.

We'll conclude the day with canapes and networking drinks overlooking Sydney's stunning harbour and raise some funds for charity with the auction of the Emerge 2023 mural.

Keynote presentation: The Future of Work

In this one-of-a-kind presentation Emerge delegates will learn the key principles, mindset and frameworks of an academically trained and practising futurist.

  • Unlearning the future - challenging the way we think about the future of work so we can think differently about action today
  • ’New learning for new times’  - challenging key assumptions and ideas about the future of work, to unlock new ways of exploring action in the present.

Reanna Browne, Futurist & Director, Work Futures

3:10pm - 3:30pm

AFTERNOON TEA Sponsored by SEEK

Session 8

Futures mapping: An interactive workshop

Reanna will walk through a futures framework (and mindset) that will help leaders make sense of the current and emerging futures of work(ers) landscape.

In small groups, our attendees will unpack and map the changing futures of work(ers) landscape, exploring emerging trends and issues, alongside declining systems and beliefs around work.

Reanna will also walk through an action framework that will help Emerge delegates to explore new ways of thinking about action that help keep the lights on' and ensure viability beyond the now. An approach that helps leaders see first-hand how to manage the critical priorities of today, viable and aspirational visions of tomorrow and the ‘messy-middle’ of transformation in between.

  • This is about getting practical - taking the insights from the earlier keynote and applying this practically
  • Key outputs - in groups we will collectively develop an outside map that well use to identify some of the key changes that are occurring around work/recruitment.
  • Reanna will then walk through the template of an inside map - a process that can be used to think about actions for your own organisation in the present

Reanna Browne, Futurist & Director, Work Futures
