How will our industry fair under a Labor Government?

Authored By Lesley Horsburgh

This time last week we were preparing to head to the polls, unsure of how Australia would ultimately choose to cast its vote.

One week on and there’s already been much speculation as to how our industry will fair under the Labor Government and at this early stage it is difficult to predict how the balance of challenge versus opportunity will sit.

One thing that is clear is that it is essential that we work to educate our Government as to the value of our industry, the role we play in the Australian economy and the professional standards our Members uphold.

We see this time as an opportunity to work with Government to bring clarity as to how the modern workforce is defined and reason to the instruments under which we are governed.

Over the coming weeks we will be delivering to Members our Policy Paper for 2022 and beyond, outlining the key items to lobby for on your behalf. We will of course seek Member feedback and look to develop a stakeholder group to assist us in driving robust dialogue with Ministers, Government agencies and officials.

We will also bring you the opportunity to ask vital questions through our usual webinars – commencing with a frank discussion with the employment law team at Squire Patton Boggs on Tuesday June 28, where we will take a deeper dive into the likely changes that will impact our sector.

Registration details for this webinar will be sent to Members and the wider APSCo network next week.

I hope you can join me then,
